FYC - Terrapin Park Traditional Geocache

The Find Your Chesapeake (FYC) GeoTour launched June 9, 2018 with over 60 caches within Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania. and Delaware. A trackable geocoin will be awarded to the first 400 geocachers, while supplies last, for locating at least 20 FYC caches. To be eligible for the coin, geocachers must download a passport from the Find Your Chesapeake GeoTour website. Geocachers must find and log at least 20 finds, record the code word from each cache on their passport. After discovering the 20 required caches, geocachers may have their passports validated via mail at the National Park Service, Chesapeake Bay Office located at 410 Severn Ave, Suite 314, Annapolis, MD 21403. Participating in the FYC GeoTour is fun and we hope that many people join in. However, it is not a requirement for logging your find on this cache once you find the container.

‘Terrapin’, as the locals call it, is a gem of Kent Island. Surrounding you are over 73 acres of wetlands, wildflower meadows, tidal ponds, and woodlands. Over 4,000 feet of beaches stretch from north to south, each inch providing a sensational view of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. Just ten years ago, you would find only sparse locals relaxing at the beach, hiking the nature trails, or bird watching here, but just recently, the park has gained much popularity as residents outside of Kent Island discovered this secret gem.

Terrapin Park is open every day from sunrise to sunset. Dogs are allowed at the park but must be on a leash. There are portable toilets available at the park along with picnic and seating areas. There are several trails at the park. The given trail head coordinates will get you to the trail that will lead you straight to the cache.
