Geocache Description:

One of our Country Road series that highlight unusual locations along inviting rural roads.

This cache highlights the North Murfreesboro Greenway opened December 14, 2016. A cooperative effort between the City of Murfreesboro and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the North Murfreesboro Greenway starts at Walter Hill Park on Highway 231 and heads west on the east side of the Stones River. The shaded paved pedestrian trail is open from daylight until 30 minutes prior to dusk. The Murfreesboro Greenway System rules apply to the pedestrian trail; for example, non-motorized bicycles are allowed but skateboards are prohibited. All pets must be on a leash and dog owners must clean up after their pets. Horses are not allowed on the pedestrian trail.

The first stage is a BEACON cache.  A BLE (low-power repeating bluetooth) transmitter is hidden near the first stage coordinates. Any smartphone (with bluetooth turned on) within 50 feet or so of the transmitter can be used to detect the signal and display the link being transmitted. (Note: Cold weather dampens the signal because low temperatures lower battery output.) You will need what is called a physical web app to detect this Google Eddystone Physical Web signal. (Hint: The BLE Scanner app for iOS or the MobileBeaconer: Beacon scanner app for Android are reliable beacon detectors. A tip on how to use MobileBeaconer is given in one of Gallery images below.) Just remember when running your detector app you must have bluetooth enabled to receive the signal and an internet connection to display the link.

To find the second (final) stage, you will need to combine the two parts of the "divided" coordinates sheet.  Look in this cache's image gallery below for a picture of the top slice of the sheet; the bottom slice is visible on the page that the beacon links you to.

Cache is a pill bottle in a "classic" Geocache hiding spot. Bring your own writing instrument to sign the log. Best of luck and enjoy the scenery!
