As described in First Case, Part I a group of boys in rural Pennsylvania formed a club simply called, "The 5." So far, we've met just 2 members of the club: The Professor, who is the captain of the club; and Bennet Jansen, the electronics whiz.
Let's meet another member: Frederick Boltz, who wants to be an rocket engineer. His dad works at NASA and smokes a pipe. He looks a lot like Fred McMurray (the dad, I mean.)
Frederick is really good at math, and wants to design rockets to take people to Mars. He is building some equipment in his garage, with his dad's help. So far, he won't let anyone see it. Frederick is also really good at solving puzzles.
As you can see, the Five is an impressive group of kids. That's why the townspeople come to them for help. Here is their most recent case:
A local hiker has come to the 5, asking for help. Some evil geocacher has hidden a container in some clever place. This is the only clue they have:
After seeing this image, Frederick, lets out a howl: "Don't you see it! It's obvious!"
Well, Frederick refuses to tell the others--"It's just too obvious!" he insists, and then tromps off to the garage to work on his invention.
What is going on? What did Frederick see that is so obvious?
