Welcome to Fivebough Wetlands, a RAMSAR protected site where all sorts of birds stop to refuel before heading on their way.
There is a huge amount of wildlife here that flies, walks, crawls, swims or just stays where it is. Be sure to bring binoculars, a camera with a long lens, plenty of water to drink and some sunscreen. The caches are a reasonable walk around the Wetlands, so be prepared.
Welcome to Brolga Shelter. From here, you can look into the main part of the wetlands and see a large number of species of bird that rely on the Wetlands for survival.
If you're coming into to the Wetlands past Welcome to Fivebough Wetlands, you already know about snakes. There have been sightings of snakes at various times of the year, especially during the warmer months. No pets are allowed in Fivebough, due to the international protections in place. Please leave the dogs and cats at home
Another thing to note is the presence of a plant called caltrop. It has little, four pointed seeds that will get into your boots and puncture pram and bike tyres. Portions of the track have them everywhere. Wear decent shoes. This portion of the track has a huge number, so be sure to stop off at the visitor centre and remove them all. Trust me. Don't take this plant home.
I've left a FTF wooden coin near the cache for the first person there
