Questa cache è nascosta nei pressi di uno dei mulini della contrada Maglio di Breganze.
Il nome della località trae chiaramente origine dalla presenza di un antico Maglio (vedi W1), attivo fin dal XVI secolo e ancora oggi ben conservato e funzionante a scopo didattico.
Cosa è un maglio?
Il maglio è in pratica un grande martello munito, in un particolare punto del manico, di un asse d'oscillazione con cui riesce a compire un movimento altalenante di battuta; tale movimento gli è impresso da un albero a camme che è anche asse della ruota idraulica.
Ogni camma spingendo, per la rotazione, verso il basso l'estremità libera del manico, fa alzare al lato opposto la testa che, sganciata la camma, per il suo stesso peso ricade sull'incudine fisso a terra, battendo il ferro rovente in lavorazione.
Il movimento della ruota idraulica viene fornito da una ruota a pale immersa nel corso d'acqua, in questo caso incanalata appositamente tramite estese opere idrauliche chiamate "roggie".
Una di queste ruote, anche se aveva un altro scopo, è visibile alle coordinate del listing. Per vedere un vero e proprio maglio battiferro funzionante è possibile visitare il museo che si trova ad inizio del percorso, a W1.

This cache is hidden near one of the mills in Breganze Maglio district. The name of the locality clearly derives from the presence of an ancient mallet (see W1), active since the 16th century and still well preserved and functioning for educational purposes.
What is a mallet?
The mallet is in practice a large hammer equipped, in a particular point of the handle, with an oscillating axis with which it can make a swinging motion; this movement is impressed by a camshaft that is also the axis of the hydraulic wheel.
Each cam pushing, by the rotation, downwards the free end of the handle, makes to raise to the opposite side with the hammer that, uncoupled the cam, for its own weight falls on the anvil fixed to the ground, beating the burning iron in process .
The movement of the hydraulic wheel is provided by a paddle wheel immersed in the water course, in this case channeled specifically by extensive hydraulic works called "roggie".
One of these wheels, even if it had another purpose, is visible at the coordinates of the listing. To see a real working hammer mall you can visit the museum at the beginning of the route, at W1.
