Geocache Description:

A Puzzle Letterbox/Hybrid cache with a Multi element? That'll be Alderney's second Letterbox cache then! Set while stranded(!) on this beautiful island after my March on Alderney, for the People of Freedonia event and hidden with the help of AlderneyGirls, who very kindly agreed to be this cache's local guardian. Sincere thanks to them.

So, where to start? You may arrive close to the given co-ords, which is an interesting feature at the airport, but there's no need to visit it. The cache isn't hidden within the airport compound or anywhere dangerous. If your calculations point you somewhere private or risky, you've made a mistake. The cache is NOT in the sea! You cache at your own risk anyway.

How to find this Geocache - which is NOT hidden at the given co-ords!: You'll need to find a plaque (there's many to pick from on Alderney) and turn the D1/D2 / M1/M2 / Y1/Y2/Y3/Y4 date on it into co-ords for the final. The box with its stamp and ink pad (please Do Not remove either. They make the cache a Letterbox) is hidden at N49 4A.BCD W002 1E.FGH, where A=M2-Y3, B=(Y3-Y4)+Y1, C=D2-M2, D=D1+Y1, E=(Y2/Y4)+M1, F=D2-Y2, G=M2+D1, H=M1+D2. Nice and simple :)
This is a peaceful spot on Alderney (aren't they all?) close to one of the island's 50+ miles (80+Km) of paths. So there may be muggles around- please locate and rehide the box with care. Thanks.

But how do you locate the correct plaque? Your first task is to decode this Rebus Puzzle (inspired by Pljg's Scillonian puzzle #1: Rebuses and its follow-ups), which will give you co-ords for the right place to gather info to lead you to the final. Each is an Alderney place-or-street-name, converted into a crypitc image to 'decode'. Once you have all eight names, you can extract figures as described - e.g. '3rd letter plus 9th letter' would produce 8 if the 3rd letter was G (=7) and the 9th was A (=1). Drop the lead-number for letters J (10 becomes 0) to Z (26 becomes 6) - and that will aim you to where you need to go. All clear? Good. Then I shall begin...

The Plaque with a Date can be found at N49 4s.tuv W002 1w.xyz, using the info below.

EXAMPLE ONLY!

Lee Majors (as Steve Austin), 1000 lbs (pounds) gives you £1000, so a Grand, and Val Doonican leads you to Le Grand Val - the road from the airport to St. Anne, aka 'town'. 2nd letter (e=5) Plus 5th letter (a=1) Plus 10th letter (l=2) would give you 8. I hope that's clear. Now solve the below!

s = 2nd letter Plus 7th letter.

t = 2nd letter Plus 6th letter Plus 8th letter.

u = 2nd letter Minus 5th letter.

v = 1st letter Plus 5th letter, Minus 12th letter.

w = 5th letter Minus 10th letter.

x = 1st letter Minus 5th letter.

y = 2nd letter Plus 3rd letter Plus 14th letter Plus 15th letter (not 2), Minus 17th letter, Minus 21st letter, Minus 22nd (and last) letter!

z = 2nd letter Plus 5th letter.

Please post no spoiler photos from the final location or of the plaque with your log/s. Thank you and good luck!
