Geocache Description:

It was the second of May 2000, the day Jane was born. She was the last child in the family of Muggles. The children in the Muggles family had problems. They were unable to find their place in the world and drifted off without a real goal in life. Jane was different. She knew where she was. You could count on her. Well, most of the time.

You can’t have high hopes in a family like this, but Jane did pretty well for the situation she was in. She had her problems, didn’t like to walk under trees when it was cloudy or to walk deep into canyons. She lost her sense of direction there. The same happened inside shopping centres and other places without windows. One time her friends at school dared her to go with them in the corridors under the school. She freaked out completely and was unable to recover her sanity until she was upstairs again. After that her friends left her out when they went exploring in those places.

Earlier this month a freak accident ended her life. She went hiking with two of her friends on a warm sunny day. It was a path they have used multiple times earlier, towards the lake. It wasn’t a different day from the weeks before, except that the winds and the dark clouds started earlier. They should have seen it coming, they knew the signs of a thunderstorm. While the sun heated up their bodies and the water cooled it down, the clouds formed. The way back was only thirty minutes, but it was through the bush over the spines of the hills. When the first rumble was heard in the distance, the kids packed up and started walking back. Halfway the first hill up a small rock slipped from under her sandal, she fell and twisted her ankle. Unable to outrun the upcoming thunderstorm and unable to go further, the three kids decided to sit out the storm in the nearby hollows, eroded out of the rocks by the wind ages ago. For more than half an hour the lightning and thunder tormented the girls who had nowhere to go. Then as a final show of force a huge thunderclap followed the lightning strike which hit the trees right in front their cave. Had Jane sat with her friends in the back of the cave, nothing would have happened to her. But her fear for the inside was worse than the fear for the storm. The lightning strike hit the tree, the tree exploded in a thousand shards which flew off in all directions. The power in the thunderclap was loud enough to burst her eardrums and push her back inside, smacking her head against the wall. While the blood from the back of head merged with the blood coming from the shards in her face and chest, her two friends screamed in fear. It still took more than an hour before the first aid responders had reached cave, and it was too late.

RIP Jane W Muggles, May 2000 to March 2018.
