Going Ballistic on Alderney Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

Simply Paul: It seems this may well have gone - sorry folks. It'd take me a while to get it replaced so I think the responsible thing to do is archive rather than temp. If/when I'm back on Alderney I might well revisit the idea.
Thanks for all the finds, cache safe and stay slinky [:)]

Geocache Description:

Set in March 2018 to mark 13 cachers taking over Fort Clonque for a week's caching holiday. In turn, this was inspired by a caching trip to Alderney in 2014, when I visited this cache...

Also inspired by Pljg's Scillonian Puzzle #5: The Cannon and others, this Puzzle Cache IS NOT at the given co-ords, which are for the imposing Odeon 'Marine Peilstand 3' or MP3- A Naval Rangefinding tower. It was hidden thanks to the kindness of the AlderneyGirls, who've agreed to be its local guardians. Sincere thanks to them!

To find this cache you have to use the firing information below to calculate the range and bearing of the cache from the given co-ords. If you're lucky enough to remember your physics lessons you should have no problem(!) If the maths of ballistics isn't so familiar, you will need to research the subject online.

The acceleration due to gravity at Alderney can be assumed to be 9.80665 m/s2 or 'standard Earth gravity': g0. You may also assume that a tailwind on exactly the right bearing counters the effects of air resistance and Coriolis force, leaving the landing site of this 'silver bullet' at the standard, parabolic theoretical position.

Your GPSr or Geocaching App may have a sufficiently precise 'project a bearing' function, once you have a distance which you could use to calculate the landing point. If not, you will need to do some trigonometry or find help online. Various sites and methods may give slightly different answers, based on various assumptions (such as using a 'Flat Earth' model), but there's a good clue to get you to the cache, and extra info below. So, where's the small-micro-or-large-nano cache?

The 'silver bullet' was fired from the top of the Rangefinding tower with an initial speed of 182.6m/s at an angle of +33° to the horizontal, on a bearing of 242.22 degrees, from a height of 20m above the landing site.
