I started the Johnny Appleseed series about three months ago as I watched my caching karma droop over the years, and felt the need to give back, and explore the local trails in a different perspective. Since those 50 caches were placed, my karma has doubled from 0.35 to over 0.70, so I'm starting round two, sprinkling caches along the trails just a bit farther from home.
This cache is near the beginning of the climb into Rancho from the Rhus Ridge entrance. The climb from the parking at the entrance rises very quickly from about 500 to 1100 feet at the intersection with Chamise Trail, so start your engines! This cache is reminiscent of one of our first JAS caches. It is about 20 large steps off the trail. See the hint if needed, coordinates might be off under the tree cover.
