I started the Johnny Appleseed series about three months ago as I watched my caching karma droop over the years, and felt the need to give back, and explore the local trails in a different perspective. Since those 50 caches were placed, my karma has doubled from 0.35 to over 0.70, so I'm starting round two, sprinkling caches along the trails just a bit farther from home.
This cache is about halfway up the Black Mountain trail towards the mountain. By this point you're at 1800 feet, with 1000 to go if that is your destination. This cache is in between two zags of the trail, and is better approached from the upper one. At least as long as the container survives, you're looking for a bee in a tree. How hard can that be?
Update 08/17/2019: the container did not survive, so it is now more of a Bug in a Tree than a bee. The container is a small lock-and-lock container camoflaged. The coordinates seem to be pretty good to me, but tough reception around here. You might try other previous finder's suggested coordinates. I'm giving one hint here (step off the trail at the highest elevation switchback) and increasing the encrypted one below. For what it is worth I measured this as exactly 3.0 miles from the Rhus Ridge parking lot, and around 4.0 from the Laura Ct entrance. But that's also a 1260 foot climb so not a quick jaunt. Elevation here appears to be 1750'.
