This cache is dedicated to my good friend FLPirate. The Pirate likes a challenge and its hard to stop him when he gets started He is frequently noted for biting off more than he can chew, but always figures out how to find what he is looking for. Not bad for a "septuagenarian."
This is one of a series of caches hidden in the Picayune Strand State Forest. Depending on what time of the that you visit this area, you could be walking in water anywhere from ankle to knee deep. To do this series you need to be prepared to wade, walk, and climb for several miles.
The area that you will be going through is a cypress forest. Cypress trees do not grow in elevated areas, they like low lying areas with lots of rain. You may see bears, Florida panthers, water moccasins, and eastern diamond rattlesnakes.
Please don’t forget to pay the Iron Ranger located in the parking area.
