This cache is dedicated to my good friend JunglePete. Pete is one of the most stand up guys that I have ever met. His life is well balanced with being a good father, husband, employer, friend and geocacher. It has been my pleasure to have known him and to be able to call him my friend. Hopefully the future will bring more time for him to come out and play.
This is one of a series of caches hidden in the Picayune Strand State Forest. Depending on what time of the that you visit this area, you could be walking in water anywhere from ankle to knee deep. To do this series you need to be prepared to wade, walk, and climb for several miles.
The area that you will be going through is a cypress forest. Cypress trees do not grow in elevated areas, they like low lying areas with lots of rain. You may see bears, Florida panthers, water moccasins, and eastern diamond rattlesnakes.
Please don’t forget to pay the Iron Ranger located in the parking area.
