Thornbury, or Thornberwell as it is sometimes referred to by its more aspirational residents, was originally surveyed by Robert Hoddle; the same man who the god-awful Hoddle Street is unfairly named after. One of the first Europeans to buy land in the area was Michael Pender, whom this park is named after. The Penders Grove Estate scheme, which provided low cost housing to those in need, was also named after him, so he's doing a bit better than poor old Robert!
Penders Park is a much loved and used community park. It has an open barbecue area, enclosed playground for bairns and lots of open space for caching (and other activities, if there are any)!
Please enjoy the cache, watch out for muggles clean up after yourself and ensure you put it back where you found it.
Thanks!
