Sunday, April 22 is Earth Day. What better way to celebrate, than with a CITO event?
Join the New Cache Order crew in cleaning up our section of Highway 36 and earn an Earth Day CITO souvenir.
We will meet at 2:00 pm at the posted coordinates, get organized, go over the safety guidelines, and then head out to pick up litter along the highway. The event will last approximately two hours. Participants will be provided safety vests (required) and trash bags. Wear closed toe shoes, gloves, and clothing that you do not mind getting dirty. Long pants, long sleeves and a hat are recommended. Volunteers must be 12 or older. Volunteers age 12 - 17 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
PLEASE NOTE: If you are planning to participate in this litter pick up, you are REQUIRED by the Tennessee Department of Transportation to first watch their safety video, and sign a volunteer release form. Your release form must be on file in the TDOT office BEFORE the event.
To prepare for the event, please follow these steps:
- Go to the Adopt a Highway website.
- Click on the Volunteer Safety Video link and view the video in its entirety.
- Download, read carefully, and sign the Volunteer Liability Release form. NOTE: Do not fill out the Volunteer Application Form. This has already been done for our group.
- Scan and email your signed form to newcacheorder@yahoo.com OR mail it to New Cache Order, 733 Liberty Church Rd, Kingsport, TN 37663. We must have it before April 19, in order to have all the forms on file with TDOT before the event.
- Be sure to log a "will attend" so we know how many people to expect.
