BELANGLOPHOBIA
noun | bel·an·glo·pho·bia | \ˈbel-aŋ-(ˌ)glō-fō-bē-ə\
An extreme fear or dislike of Belanglo State Forest
Do you suffer from Belanglophobia?!
Unfortunately, Belanglo State Forest has a terrible stigma attached to it because of it’s dark history, however if you can see beyond that, it’s a beautiful area teeming with wildlife that’s only 90 minutes away from Sydney! In addition, due to the stigma and fear of Belanglo, there are far less muggles than you would normally find in similar areas so close to a major city; it's an awesome place! Lately we’ve found ourselves visiting Belanglo State Forest more and more, camping at the wonderful Daly’s Clearing and exploring many of the fun four wheel drive tracks in the area. We’ve only just scratched the surface (well, you wouldn't want to do any more than scratch the surface!) and will undoubtedly explore a lot more over the coming months.
So you think you can handle a visit here? Well, let's add a bit more to the mix! How about your fear of the dark? Yes, that's right...a night cache in the middle of Belanglo State Forest! If you don't find this scary, then you're a very brave person!
Those that suffer from scotophobia are probably better off not attempting this one, but if you do, from start to finish (including the walk to the final location and back) this cache should be no more than a kilometre long. You will need a good torch, spare batteries, and nerves of steel! From the starting coordinates, hold your torch at eye level and search for a reflector. There is a chance you may spot more than one reflector, however, head to the closest one and then follow the trail through the pine forest until you reach a triple marker. At the triple marker, you need to search for a container hidden in a tree five metres to the east of you. Inside, you will find information required to find the cache, which is only a short walk away.
The cache can be found at: S34 30.(D-F)(B+E)(C-I) E150 14.(G+F)(J-E)(BxI)
