Leonia 2-stage Multi Multi-Cache
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
Leonia is a borough in Bergen County, NJ, population about 9,000. A magazine ranked Leonia as its 31st best place to live in New Jersey in 2008. In the 19th century, train service to the area marked it as "West Fort Lee". However, in 1865 town leaders chose the name "Leonia" in honor of American Revolutionary War General Charles Lee, for whom Fort Lee was named. Leonia celebrates "Leonia Day" annually on the third Sunday in May.
The borough borders Englewood, Fort Lee, Palisades Park, Ridgefield Park and Teaneck. Leonia is designated as a Tree City USA, receiving its 21st annual recognition in 2010 from the National Arbor Day Foundation.
On to the cache: You are searching for 2 stages of a multi-cache, less than 200 feet (60 meters) apart. As there is a park and a dog run, parking is available on Broad, though please obey all street rules. Also, as of January 15, 2018, the Borough is closing as many as sixty secondary roads, 6 to 10 a.m., 4 to 9 p.m. at night, seven days a week in order to discourage short-cuts to the George Washington Bridge. Local side streets will be closed with ‘do not enter’ signs. Those who try to 'cheat thesystem' may be fined $200.
Note on Stage 2: There are 2 ways to approach this. If you approach from above, it is at your feet. If you approach from below, it is above your head - and would be a higher terrain. :o) Please remember, that a Found-it log must be accompanied by your marking on the logsheet at Stage 2. Enjoy....
