Today sees the launch of the Geo-RADARTM which is set to revolutionise the world of Geocaching. Currently, the GPS signal in space is broadcast with a global average user range error (URE) of ≤7.8m (25.6 ft.), with 95% probability. This lack of GPSr accuracy can lead to frustration at GZ and an increased risk of DNFs.
Using a patented combination of sonar echo location and penetrating radar using electromagnetic signatures of the natural frequency of plastic containers; the Geo-RADARTM can home in on caches with pin-point accuracy to the nearest millimetre. The Mk1 is suitable for finding containers from a small size upwards, the Mk2 (with greater amplification) for micros, nanos and ‘others’.
The user interface is via a smartphone app, providing a clear bearing and distance to the target cache with exceptional accuracy. An added bonus of the Geo-RADARTM is the ability to show active weather systems on the screen to avoid caching in the rain. Available now in all good stores.
Parking details and trailhead are in the checker. Wellies may be needed after heavy rain as it can get a bit muddy on the way to GZ.
Note: at the time of placing, there was another cache near to GZ which is not registered on Geocaching.com. Please make sure to find and sign the logbook with 'RADAR' on it!
