Geocache Description:

Deck of Cards Series

I do not save the log sheets from this series. If a log sheet is wet or missing, please feel free to replace it. Thanks.

There are a lot of great caches in Galena. Unfortunately there is limited room for more. But we need more caches for our visitors. My answer is to surround Galena with caches. Project GC tracks caches found by owner. I am working on finding 100 caches from each of 20 owners. I think it is only fair that I have 100 caches for them to find. I need about 50 more hides to end up with over 100 active caches. What is a number around 50? 52 - a Deck of Cards!

I will place caches 4 at a time. I will try to add interesting information about each. All the history in Galena is not in town. I hope you enjoy this series.

The 10s will take you to W Longhollow Road. About 60 years ago I traveled this road with my Grandmother. She lived in Guilford over by the 2s. Her parents lived with her sister in Elizabeth, IL. She would often visit them. This is the route she took. It was all gravel back then but taking this valley was quicker than Rte 20 on the ridgeline to the west.

The  10 of Diamonds is located at the intersection of W Longhollow Road and S Snipe Hollow Road. The lower part of Snipe Hollow road is in bad shape. Once it gets out of the valley the road is paved. It connects to the Elizabeth Scales Mound Road.

From here you can see cars on Rte 20 on the ridgeline to the west. We are south of the timber. There is also lots of fresh country air for your enjoyment.
