I started the Johnny Appleseed series about three months ago as I watched my caching karma droop over the years, and felt the need to give back, and explore the local trails in a different perspective. Since those 50 caches were placed, my karma has doubled from 0.35 to over 0.70, so I'm starting round two, sprinkling caches along the trails just a bit farther from home.
You've made it to the top of Black Mountain! Whether you've come from the western Monte Bello trailhead (3 miles), the Waterwheel parking lot to the east (parking requires a free permit, available from the Open Space webpage), or from Rancho San Antonio, 2000 feet below, you've earned the views! There is a lot to explore up here, and this little trail to oblivion looked enticing, so I thought it needed a cache. It enters a little meadow with cute little rock cluster that remind me of a little version of a Lord of the Rings setting. I'm increasing the D rating a little because I imagine it could be hard for some to see if it settles over time. It is among some of the rocks near the tree line.
Congratulations to eanders94040 for the FTF!
Good luck, enjoy the trail, and remember it is good to give back!
