This cache is a tribute to Gord Downie and the Tragically Hip, one of the greatest bands in Canadian history.
The song Wheat Kings starts with the sound of a loon which seemed appropriate for this location. While there are no loons here, there are often ducks, geese and owls.
Wheat kings was released in 1992 and is one of my favorites. It recounts the true case of David Milgaard, who was wrongly imprisoned for 23 years for the killing of a young Saskatchewan nurse.
There is a nice place near the cache to sit and enjoy the pond. If you're lucky, you may even see the resident beaver making his way across the pond.
