Geocache Description:

In a recent blog post groundspeak listed there top 10 list of the “best” geocaching songs (notice the quotation marks). Which songs get you movin’ from cache to cache?

Jimmy Buffett's career started in Nashville in the late 1960s and he had his first album in 1970.  At this time Buffett was often seen busking for tourists in New Orleans, in 1971 he moved to Key West after a busking tour of the area.   It was during this time that his music style was truly formed and ‘Gulf and western’ was born.    His music is a mix of country, rock and pop music that features coastal and tropical lyric themes.

His first big single Come Monday was released in 1974 on the Living and Dying in ¾ time album and in 1977 his break through hit Margaritaville arrived on the Album Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes.

Our featured song is the title track from this album and was released as a single in August 1977. It hit number 38 on the American top 40 and is one of the ‘Big 8’ song buffet always plays live.
