Stand of Flamingos - Fanimamalies Series Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

iowaPete: I found Pinkie, and am taking her home. [:P]

As much as I enjoy hiding caches, sometimes, I gotta take a few of 'em off the map. Time to sunset this series after 5-1/2 years. Going to take a few down at a time. Don't know when the next series will come out. Rumor has it, Dubuque County Conservation secured funds to pave the Heritage Trail from Dyersville and going east! [:O] The only thing that is uncertain is how far the money will go? We may need to wait a season before re-populating the trail with new caches. Time will tell. Stay tuned.

Big THANK YOU TO EVERYONE who came out and chased these caches. Your log entries are entertaining on so many levels. YOU are the reason I keep publishing new hides.

Until then...

iowaPete [:D]

Geocache Description:

Come out for a day of caching on the Heritage Trail, and learn a little bit about the naming of animal groups

Crowds of creatures are often given silly names. We've all likely heard of many of them, but some are less well known. This series is designed to get you outdoors hiking and caching, and to provide a little trivia knowledge about those clusters of animals.

A STAND Of Flamingos
The pink or reddish color of flamingos comes from carotenoids in their diet of animal and plant plankton.

**Cache at your own risk**

All caches placed with the enthusiastic permission of Brian Preston, Executive Director, Dubuque County Conservation.

Geocaching, hiking, backpacking and other outdoor activities involve risk to both persons and property. There are many variables including, but not limited to, weather, fitness level, terrain features and outdoor experience, to be considered prior to seeking a cache. Be prepared for your journey and be sure to check the current weather conditions before heading outdoors. Please exercise common sense and caution.

Please note that there is a trail fee.
Please pay it; it's cheap for a day of fun and helps maintain this wonderful location.
