This cache is placed at First United Methodist Church, 300 N. Galloway Ave, Mesquite, TX, in recognition of the congregation's historical beginnings before the city's incorporation. The church organized in 1857 and met in different locations for several years. A wooden structure served as the first church, but was replaced in 1900. Since then, and as the congregation has grown, buildings have been added to the campus. Texas Historical Marker was placed at the church in 1991. Please be respectful. Probably not a good idea to do this one prior to 1:00 p.m. on Sunday's. This cache was placed in a cooperative effort between the Historical Preservation Office / Historic Mesquite Inc. and Mesquite Parks and Recreation.
