Geocache Description:


At this Location you will see an amazing sculpture of a Dragonfly. Next to it is the name Tobias so I think that is possibly the name of the Dragonfly. I have done research on information about it and the story behind it but with no success. I will continue my search and appreciate any info that anyone knows.

I do know that the artist's name is Tobias Bennett. I sent Tobias an email asking about the dragon fly and this was his reply. “Hi Kathy Thank you for getting in touch. The story of the giant dragonfly is relatively unenchanted however the magic in one's journey is in the eye of the voyager. A while ago I took my family to see an exhibition in Melbourne on insects and super bugs. Shortly thereafter I was struck with the inspiration to create a giant prehistoric super big of my own! I toiled in my workshop day and night like a mad scientist for two or three moons before finally being able to lift and bolt the wings onto the body. Then ... I recoiled in terror at the awesome might of the beast. The property that it guards at present belongs to my mother and I thought much better to expose him to the public there than to ride him all the way back to my home in Leeton nsw. He is for sale if anyone is mad enough to own such a beast! You will notice no sheep in that paddock! For $45 000 delivered. Flying lessons are extra. I have recently considered entering him in a freak show (sculpture exhibition) some time in spring. I hope you continue to have a pleasant day and enjoy the beast on your drives. Go well Tobias “
