The Swamp Fox geoart is placed in the Francis Marion National Forest with permission of the Forest Ranger. The forest is an active hunting area during certain times of the year, please be respectful of hunters and be safe. There may be critters near caches, be mindful of your surroundings and watch your step. All caches are placed close to the roads, some of the roads may have pot holes and ruts at times.
Francis Marion was a Brigadier General of the SC Militia during the American Revolution. He was one of the partisan leaders who kept the war alive during the British occupation of the state. His elusive disappearances after surprise attacks against superior forces harassed a demoralized the enemy, earning for him the name, “Swamp Fox.”
