The Swamp Fox geoart is placed in the Francis Marion National Forest with permission of the Forest Ranger. The forest is an active hunting area during certain times of the year, please be respectful of hunters and be safe. There may be critters near caches, be mindful of your surroundings and watch your step. All caches are placed close to the roads, some of the roads may have pot holes and ruts at times.
Francis Marion began his military career shortly before his 25th birthday. On January 1, 1757, Francis and his brother, Job, were recruited by Captain John Postell to serve in the French and Indian War. In 1761, Marion served as a lieutenant under Captain William Moultrie.
