Geocache Description:

This cache is found on the south side of Rarotonga, half way around the island from the main town (Avarua).  It is a good stop for those circling the island to experience the sights, sounds and smells of this beautiful island and do some geocaching at the same time. The cache is easy to get to to EXCEPT for the last few meters.  You can drive almost right to the cache but I would SUGGEST you park the car or scooter about 200m to the east at the pull out near the Turoa bakery and Salt Water cafe.  From there cross over the black boulders down to the beach.  Exercise CAUTION as the boulders can be slippery.  From there walk to the west along this quiet beach towards GZ.  Beach shoes are a good option if you have them.

The cache is a pill container. It holds a log book to record your visit.

The beach walk is well worth the effort.  With a towel you may choose to stay longer under a palm tree along the way.

Update 4 - Aug 8 2023:

Thanks to fellow geocacher pajamateam the cache is replaced and good to go again. Please be sure to replace the cache exactly where you find it. DM

Update 3 - Apr 21 2023:

Ready to give up as it is muggled once again. Given this I must DISABLE this cache for the time being. If a local reads this and is able to help that would be great, or another geocacher passing though. I would do the maintenance myself but live far away in Canada. I want to return to the Cooks but world events of the past few years have changed that and I do not have a return visit scheduled in the near future. DM

Update 2 - Oct 19 2022:

Muggled yet again. Thanks to Mumander for volunteering to replace the cache. It is now back and ready for you to find. This is such a beautiful spot; all we can do is keep on trying. I really don't want to archive this spot. Hopefully whoever keeps hitting this spot will move on and let it be. DM

Update 1:

This cache has been muggled twice since I first hid it just 6 months ago. With the assistance of fellow geocachers it was replaced both times. To the next person who visits, could you please leave a DNF if you are unable to find it. This is the only way I will know if it is gone again. If this is the case, I may be forced to archive as I am unable to return to the island at this time. My local contact is no longer willing to maintain and I live far away. This is a great spot for a geocache but has disappeared even though the place is quiet. If it goes missing once again I hope another geocacher can help replacing it as it is such a pretty part of the island. Just send me a note. Thanks.

Thank you to fellow geocachers for replacing this cache twice. I love the spot but wonder if it is just too easy to see. Hopefully it won't get muggled again.
