WWFM XV: Ride the Thunder Junction Train Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

mikeri: A very special thanks to all those who attend this event. It’s always great to see so many familiar faces and equally exciting to see new faces.

I really enjoyed our ride on the Thunder Junction train and all the pictures and videos that have been posted on the event page. My favorite part was when our conductor realized that we were all geocachers and how excited he was when he learned that we knew and remembered his brother. Truly a unique experience.

I hope to see you all at the next event or out on the trail. Cache on.

Geocache Description:

Date: Saturday, June 9, 2018
Time: 11:00 A.M.
Location: Tonaquint Park/Thunder Junction All Abilities Park (N 37° 04.753 W 113° 35.862)

This year our part of the World Wide Flash Mob (WWFM XVwill be at the Thunder Junction All Abilities Park.

The Thunder Junction All Abilities park features a dinosaur theme that includes complete wheelchair accessible playground equipment, climbing wall, an “erupting” volcano, splash pad, and a “roaring” C.P. Huntington 1/4-scale train on a 2,700-foot track. The ground is covered with durable soft-surfacing making accessibility easier for those in wheelchairs.

If you've never taken the opportunity to ride the train, now's your chance.  Let's see if we can't fill it will geocachers. All Aboard!

We will meet at the coordinates above and then walk over as a group to the train station.

WWFM – World Wide Flash Mobs – A fun and friendly way to promote geocaching around the world.
Thousands of geocachers at dozens of coordinated events spanning the globe, gathering at the same time.

Sonny and Sandy of the PodCacher podcast came up with the WWFM idea in 2007 after attending a mega-event. It was meant to be a fun “opposite” of a mega-event: all the cool aspects of a geocaching event, crammed into 15 minutes of excitement. An added dimension is represented by the letters "WW" - World Wide - these events occur across the planet on the same day at (mostly) the same time! These caching events are intended to bring geocachers together in a creative way, as well as introduce others (newbies) to the hobby.
