This cache is the first in a series of 10 caches called Stoke Hill Saunter. The 10th (bonus cache) is a mystery cache (GC7NTZP). In order to find the bonus cache you will need the letter/number code found in 8 of the 9 caches. We reached our 2000 finds recently in New Zealand (in the winter of 2017/8), and this mini-series distills some of the essence of sneaky hides we have learned in the past year. So, the message for all you cachers is, yes, this series is pretty sneaky!! That's what you all like. This series is the first we've laid out, and the walk gives us still as much enjoyment as ever.
This first cache is placed on a bridleway that is not on OS maps but is public and visible. From the parking at Mincinglake Bridge, cross the road and take the path straight ahead. After about 30 metres a grassy path goes uphill to your right and avoids most of the busy road. I have attached an annotated map in the gallery. The cache will be found just before the track joins the road. The style of hide is one we came across in France, but we haven't seen this type of hide in the UK.
To continue the saunter, you need to walk on the road uphill for about 30 metres before turning left into a marked bridleway.
CONGRATULATIONS to ChudleighTraveller and theclosefamily on joint FTF. Be warned, this warrants D5. Search for it at your peril. If you fail to find it, prepare to have sleepless nights! One determined cacher managed to make 3 fruitless visits..... And on the 4th visit he found it!! At least one cacher is sleeping soundly.
