Or 'First Step' as the case may be.
There was a cache called 'First Step' (GC23NYB) placed here but it was destroyed by Cyclone Fehi in February 2018 and the CO who is not currently active has decided not to replace it.
However a place such as this is so important on your Abel Tasman adventure, that it deserves a cache so I decided to place a new cache.
The cache is a Rite in the Rain log sheet in a silver bison, with no writing instrument so B.Y.O.P. When placed (early in the morning as the sun was rising, this place was deserted, but at times it will be like Grand Central Station.
NOTE: The image above is of the shelter that used to be at the start/end of the track. I have no idea why DOC has removed it, perhaps they intend to replace it with something better.
To make it easy and quick to find the cache is placed where the concrete path joins the boardwalk at the start of the bridge on the right hand side (if you are just starting the track). It is held in place by a rock. Please return securely as found.
As space is limited on the log sheet and this cache is likely to get lots of visits, please use a maximum of one line per log and do not use stamps.
