This cache has been archived.

TheAwesomePenguins: Time to let this trail go for someone to hide some new caches. April 1, 2018 we hid the ones along this section of trail. Almost 7 years. Lokking forward to seeing some new hides from someone. Container removed.

Last one on this section of trail. Off to collect my penguin caches on a section south of here

Geocache Description:

Update June 26/18: The trail is now easier to travel on with packed down rocks along the way. Easy to bike. A slight downward slope from north to the south on the trail

This is the newest section of the Hickson Trail (HT). It was once part of a rail line that ran from Stratford to Port Dover. Over the years it has overgrown and remained unpassable. In the fall of 2017 a committee of volunteers started to clear the trail and raise money to buy 2 "bridges" to put over the creek in 2 separate spots along the trail. These"bridges" are made from de-commissioned transport truck beds, that have had deck boards and railings attached to enable their use as a bridge.

This Trail can be muddy at times and there are a few spots used by tractors from neighboring farms. You are welcome to hike or bike this trail but MOTORIZED VEHICLES are NOT ALLOWED at any time. At each end of this 3km long section of trail (from Braemar Siderod north up to Hickson), there is a post at the side of the trail where there is bird seed and walking sticks. If you use a walking stick, please leave it at the other end of the trail for someone else to enjoy on their hike.

I love birds. Next to Penguins, the Turkey Vulture (Cathartes aura) is one of my favorites. They are natures clean up crew. Although considered a raptor, Turkey Vultures do not kill their food. They soar above us looking for dead animals, as that is their primary source of food. They conserve so much energy by simply soaring from thermal to thermal, travelling for miles looking for food. When I see them in March/April, I know Spring is here and when they leave us in late fall, I know Winter is very soon upon us. They will fly to Mexico and Central America to winter, in the hundreds of thousands.

You are looking for a hanging, micro/small sized cammo container here.
