1st Hide becomes 105th hide - HT Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

TheAwesomePenguins: Out doing a maintenance hike with CG78 and her geo pup Sadie. Replacing logs and fixing containers as needed.

This one was replaced by someone at some point and i wasnt happy with the placement or the container.

Considering the title and the idea behind the hide i think its better to archive

Geocache Description:

This is the newest section of the Hickson Trail (HT). It was once part of a rail line that ran from Stratford to Port Dover. Over the years it has overgrown and remained unpassable. In the fall of 2017 a committee of volunteers started to clear the trail and raise money to buy 2 "bridges" to put over the creek in 2 separate spots along the trail. These"bridges" are made from de-commissioned transport truck beds, that have had deck boards and railings attached to enable their use as a bridge.

This Trail can be muddy at times and there are a few spots used by tractors from neighboring farms. You are welcome to hike or bike this trail but MOTORIZED VEHICLES are NOT ALLOWED at any time. At each end of this 3km long section of trail (from Braemar Siderod north up to Hickson), there is a post at the side of the trail where there is bird seed and walking sticks. If you use a walking stick, please leave it at the other end of the trail for someone else to enjoy on their hike.

On Feb 29, 2016 TheAwesomePenguins (us) hid their first cache "GC6CBFK Supersize Me on Ellis Rd". On Mar 19, 2017 we had to archive the cache because the tree it was in, along with several other tress nearby, was cut down and shredded on the spot. When Mrs Penguin and I went to investigate we actually found the cache container on the ground several feet away, amongst the shredded tree branches. We are now using that cache container here, on our 105th geocache hide. Hopefully it lasts a long time here.
