Welcome to Cactus Flowers. This cache is a Small(S)* sized plastic container with a screw-top lid. The cache contains a log, a pen and a pencil, a First To Find card and some swag. Please remember the geocaching rule: Only take swag if you swap it for something of equal or greater value. Please replace the lid and the cache properly.
This cache is hidden close to some Prickly pear cacti (Genus Opuntia). Prickly pear is an invasive species. Prickly pears (mostly Opuntia stricta) were imported into Australia in the 19th century for use as a natural agricultural fence and in an attempt to establish a cochineal dye industry. The plant produces an edible red-purple fruit and attractive yellow flowers.
GZ is on the east side of the creek. If the creek is dry, or only trickling, you can ford it just about anywhere you want. Unfortunately, if the creek is flowing you might not see an easy way to cross it, unless you carry gum boots or a bridge with you. If you don't have those resources and you don't like wet feet I suggest that the best way to cross the creek is to ford it via the rocks below the new road bridge about 400 metres to the north-west of GZ then hike along the eastern bank of the creek. If those rocks are under water it's OK to come back another day.
One cannot ignore the possibility of snakes in the long grass. Please wear appropriate clothing.
I've rated this cache D1.5 because it should be easy to find at GZ, and T2.5 because of the small elevation changes and moderate overgrowth during your hike across the creek.
