Located at the center of the Donkin Village next to a quaint coffee shop, this cache features a recent public sculpture of two magnificent metal oxen pulling a wagon.

The artwork reflects the industrial, manufacturing & motoring history of the Port Elizabeth [Nelson Mandela Bay] region; the resilient nature & pioneering spirit of all who live in the Eastern Cape Province, & the friendly city of PE [Ibhayi].
The two oxen, consist of more than a thousand individually collected, sorted, cleaned, shaped & welded mechanical /iron/steel components & metal parts. They embody the strength & optimism required to boldly journey up & over the mountains of tomorrow - united as a team. The artwork is also in part a homage to oxen & wagons, & their contribution to the history of transportation. So let us move forward with our eyes on a new horizon of compassion & opportunity.
The assemblage sculpture, unveiled on the 23rd of February 2018, was created by the South African, Multi-Media Fine Artist Louwrens Westraad. Beyond all the acts of creativity he supports the right to freedom of speech & expression.
The commission was made possible by the UMMI Properties. #NewHorizon
