NYC's First Reverse Cache (Wherigo) Wherigo Cache

This cache has been archived.

SpinOnGreen: Time to let this one go. It’s been a nice few years, but as I’ve gained experience I realize the GZ here isn’t exactly ideal. Archiving to free up space, and perhaps there will be a new cache here in the future.

Geocache Description:

Welcome to NYC's First ƎƧЯƎVƎЯ Cache!

A reverse Wherigo cache

The cache is NOT at the posted coordinates; you may begin your search from anywhere in the world!

This Wherigo converts your player into a virtual version of a "Reverse Geocaching Box" which tells you the distance to the cache, but not the direction (bearing). You must use your Smartphone/Wherigo compatible GPS device to navigate to the cache.

The cartridge is available to download from wherigo.com

The original idea for this type of Wherigo comes from -Waldmeister- in the form of The first Reverse Cache [WIG].

In order to find this cache, you must query your Reverse Cache Box which will give you the distance to the final location, but not the direction. All instructions and necessary information needed to complete the cartridge are contained within it. The cartridge is multilingual. To begin, you will have to type these codes into your player:
797330
474704
316347

It is recommended that you take these codes with you on your journey in case your player crashes (this cartridge is still in beta, after all) or if you need to restart the cartridge. Once you have reached within about 80 feet (25 meters) of the cache, the cartridge will give you the real coordinates to the final, statistics on your quest, and a personal passcode which you can use to create your own Reverse Wherigo(s), should you so desire.

In order to maintain the fun for other cachers, please do not include
  • The number of attempts you used on your cache box
  • Hints in your log or post photos that would give away the final location or the container. Feel free to post the view from the final or along the way though!

About GPS: Yes, we know that GPS reception in Manhattan can be spotty, so this cache is not near any tall buildings! In fact, you'll find that if you start at the posted coordinates, it will be very close indeed! Remember, start under the open sky and let your player's accuracy fine-tune itself before beginning to play.

Lastly, please remember to seal the container properly and replace it as (or better than) you found it for the next cacher to enjoy!

Happy Hunting: good luck, and most importantly, have fun!
