I’ve wanted to make a series like this for ages, so here it is! There are 5 caches in it with Difficulty/Terrain ratings 1/1, 2/2, 3/3, 4/4 and 5/5. The caches are:
You can only find the co-ordinates of the 5/5 by finding the other 4 caches in the series first. So if you want to find The 5/5, read its description before looking for any of the others.
This cache starts at Auchinstarry Quarry, a popular place with climbers. Although you do not need to climb, you do need to go to the top of the cliffs, following a path which is extremely exposed and literally right at the edge of the cliff. For this reason, this cache is not recommended for children and you are advised NOT to attempt it when the grass is wet or covered in snow. It is important that you take extreme care and pay careful attention to where you walk and stand. Do not look at your phone or GPS while you are walking.
Go to the Trailhead waypoint to start the walk up to the clifftop. At the Sign waypoint:
The number of words on the faded white sign = A
The number of letters in the second word on the sign = B
Now follow the path to the Bolt waypoint (take care!) where you will find a stainless steel climbing bolt secured to the ground. There are two bolts a few metres apart; you want the first one you come to. If it is being used, you will need to wait until it is free. On the side of the bolt are three digits, CD.E.
Now follow the path to the Coops waypoint (take extreme care!) where you will find pigeon coops. Looking at the building on the right:
The number of perspex windows in its sloping roof = F
The number of wire mesh windows on its front = G
The cache can be found at N55 5(C+E+F).B(B+G)C W004 0C.ADA. There is a tool at GZ to help you find the cache. BYOP.
Use the checker below for the final coordinates.
