Geocache Description:

HISTORY OF BASSO STUDIOS

As everyone knows, this entire area was once part of the extensive Basso empire. What many people don't realize is that this was also the home of a famous STUDIO That's, right, Basso Studios was headquarted right here!

Many of the great films of days past were filmed right here. One TV show filmed here was "Lost in Space." You know all those crazy alien scenes? They were filmed right at BassoRidge!

Many of the scenes from "Streets of San Francisco" were also filmed on the Bassoville Trolleys. If you look closely at the trolley scenes, you can sometimes see a little boy--that was me!

The actors from one of the "Lost in Space" episodes is shown below. This was the scene where Dr. Smith, the Robot, and Will fight the alien mummy from the future. The short guy in front played "Robot," and the tall guy in back played the alien mummy. The rest of the folks played alien "extras," and made growling sounds.

We also shot a few of the scenes for "Love Boat" down by the "Turtle Pond." (The pond was much larger back then, but it was still tough to get the cruise ship up the mountain.)

Anyway, working at the Studio was a grand time. One day, one of the aliens from Lost in Space put out some funny container. At the time, I didn't know what he was doing, but I now understand. Can you help me find it?
