Geocache Description:

This is one of a few caches I placed in the old Prairie section of the Arbor Hills Nature Preserve. This area is still accessible by two separate trailheads, although they are in a part of the Preserve that does not have a trail map. This area is open to the public, but beware that trails can be faint as the grass gets tall and this is a less frequently used area than the Forest sections.

There are quite a few thorny trees/vines on this hike as well as numerous rabbit holes off the trails. Please be careful walking and always keep your eyes in front of you. This is an absolutely beautiful area of the park, with open meadows that are  sprinkled with tree patches. There is a decent sized pond back in here that looks like it’s begging to be fished by someone (with a TX fishing license of course!). It really is a nice spot to relax and enjoy the area that remains as pristine as it was hundreds of years ago.

I highly recommend parking at the Sumner Street entrance as it’s very close to the bigger of the two trailheads, but you can also park in the main Preserve parking lots and make the long hike to the more Southern trailhead. If you do happen to come in the southern entrance, you will be greeted by a beautiful tunnel made out of overgrowth and trees. It’s about 5 feet high and 4 feet wide and 50 yards long. It looks like something right out of a movie. I had to stop and take some pictures when I came across it.

Let’s get to the actual cache!

On this particular hide, you are looking for a 750ml camouflaged CamelBak water bottle. It’s about 6 feet off the ground.
