[ITA] Nelle campagne intorno a Lecce vi è una grande quantità di antiche masserie, spesso in disuso e lasciate in rovina. Alcune però, fortunatamente, sono oggi diventate ristoranti o agriturismi, dopo opportuni lavori di ristrutturazione. L’origine di queste strutture risale al Medioevo, quando erano abitate da nuclei familiari di agricoltori che dedicavano tutta la loro vita alla coltivazione di prodotti necessari al loro sostentamento. Coloro che vi abitavano erano definiti “massari”, termine che deriva dalla parola "massa", in riferimento alla fascia sociale più bassa del tempo. Questa masseria in particolare mi ha sempre incuriosito per la sua posizione, trovandosi nel bel mezzo di un enorme campo deserto ed essendo scollegata da qualunque strada vicina; perciò quando ho deciso di andare finalmente ad esplorarla ho colto l'occasione per nascondere una cache.
[ENG] In the countryside around Lecce there's a big amount of old farms, often abandoned and left in ruins. Fortunately, however, some of them have now become restaurants or agritourisms, after appropriate renovation works. The origin of these structures dates back to the Middle Ages, when they were inhabited by families of farmers who dedicated their whole life to the cultivation of products necessary for their livelihood. Those who lived there were called "massari", a term that derives from the word "massa", referring to the lowest social band of that time. This farm in particular always attracted me for its position, lying in the middle of a large desert field and being unconnected from any nearby road; therefore when I decided to go and take a look I took the occasion to hide a cache there.
[Update] Un contadino locale ha avuto la geniale idea di impossessarsi della struttura e trasformarla nella sua stalla. Purtroppo non posso farci niente. La cache, tuttavia, è integra ed è stata spostata all'esterno.
[Update] A local farmer had the brilliant idea of taking over the structure and turning it into his stable. Unfortunately I can not do anything about it. However, the cache is intact and has been moved outside.
