****FOR ENGLISH SEE BELOW**** De cache is bereikbaar vanaf de openbare weg. Je hoeft nooit privé terrein op! Parkeren mag als het hek geopend is. Dit terrein herbergt naast het Scout centrum Rotterdam ook twee scoutinggroepen, namelijk de Hendrik van Halewijn en de Johan van der Veecken. Het Scout Centrum Rotterdam is opgericht in 1966 en ondergebracht in een ruim 300 jaar oude boerderij (bouwjaar ca. 1700) gelegen aan de 's Gravenweg. De “weg” in het gezegde "Zo oud als de weg naar Kralingen" verwijst naar deze ‘s Gravenweg. De boerderij met opstallen is een Rijksmonument waarvan de officiële opening plaatsvond na de verbouwing in 1969. Vanaf dat moment is het scoutcentrum een ontmoetingsplaats voor scouts uit binnen- en buitenland. De voormalige koeienstal van de boerderij is verbouwd tot een gezellige binnenaccommodatie en de weilanden zijn omgetoverd tot ruime, door groen omzoomde kampeervelden (± 7 ha.). De voormalige paarden- en varkensstallen zijn verbouwd en worden als clubgebouwen gebruikt door de twee scoutinggroepen. Op de website van de Historische vereniging Capelle treft u meer informatie. Beide scoutinggroepen danken hun naam aan de voormalig bewoners van het kasteel dat vroeger, omringt door de slotgracht (die er nog steeds ligt) in de buurt van het Slotplein in Capelle aan den IJssel stond. De Johan van der Veecken is in 1967 opgericht als een groep "Nederlandse Padvinders" (inmiddels allemaal Scouting Nederland) en draait tegenwoordig elk weekend met ruim 100 leden. De eerste beheerders van het scoutcentrum, Martine en Jan Keur vonden het leuk als er nog een scoutinggroep in Capelle zou komen en richtten de Hendrik van Halewijn op. Het was een groep van "De Katholieke Verkenners". Akela Keur begon met 3 welpen in de boerderij, maar de Halewijnhorde werd steeds groter. Al spoedig werden de welpen verhuisd naar de oude koeienschuur. Eerst moesten er wat muren gemetseld worden tegen het instorten, maar toen hadden ze een mooi hordehol. Inmiddels is de groep uitgegroeid tot 11 speltakken en ruim 200 leden en staan er sinds 2009 twee gloednieuwe gebouwen. ****ENGLISH**** The cache is accessible from the public road. You don’t have to enter private property! The area near this cache houses besides the Scout Centre Rotterdam two scout groups, Hendrik van Halewijn and Johan van der Veecken. The Scout Centre Rotterdam was founded in 1966 and housed in a 300 year old farmhouse (built in 1700) situated on the 's Gravenweg. In The Netherlands there is a saying "As old as the road to Kralingen". This road refers to this ‘s Gravenweg. The farm building is listed as a monument whose official opening took place after the renovation in 1969. From that moment the scout centre was a meeting place for scouts from The Netherlands and abroad. The former barn of the farm has been converted into a cozy indoor accommodation and the meadows are transformed into large camping fields (± 7 ha.). The former stables and pigsties are transformed into club houses used by the two scout groups. On the website of the Historical Society Capelle you will find more information. Both scout groups owe their name to the former Lords of the castle that once stood, surrounded by the moat (which can still be found), near ‘Slotplein’ in Capelle aan den IJssel. The scout group Johan van der Veecken was established in 1967 as a group of "Dutch Boy Scouts" (nowadays all Scouting Netherlands) and they come together every weekend with over 100 members. The first campsite-managers of the scout centre, Martine and Jan Keur established the Catholic scout group Hendrik van Halewijn. Akela Keur began with 3 wolf cubs in the farm, but the Halewijn pack grew rapidly. Soon the cubs were moved to the old cow barn. First they had to build extra walls to prevent collapse, but then they had a nice ‘pack burrow’. Meanwhile, the group has grown to 11 sections and over 200 members and since 2009 they come together in two brand new buildings.
