State Fact: Due to the population and influence of the Chicago area, Illinois often divides itself between the Chicago area and everyone else. On the map, everyone else is south or downstate. While a lot could be said about Chicago, such as the Cubs, stuffed pizza, and Mayor Daley, the state facts for the Illinois Star will give downstate its due . . . with occasional nods to Chicago.
