I started the Johnny Appleseed series about three months ago as I watched my caching karma droop over the years, and felt the need to give back, and explore the local trails in a different perspective. Since those 50 caches were placed, my karma has doubled from 0.35 to over 0.70, so I'm starting round two, sprinkling caches along the trails just a bit farther from home.
This cache is on the far south-eastern reaches of Rancho San Antonio, one of the busiest parks in Silicon Valley. The cache is on the trail (not within the cemetery grounds) called the Hammond-Snyder Loop Trail, currently a patchwork of trail segments broken up by construction and by the nearby neighborhood. It is named after the Snyder-Hammond House, which is purported to be the oldest farmhouse in Cupertino. The house is nearby, but appears to be unaccessible. This cache is at the corner of the trail that surrounds the Gates of Heaven Cemetery. You can see into the cemetery grounds from here, but you can't continue your loop much more after this location, until the construction is cleared up. Good luck!
Congratulations to catomcat for yet another Rancho JAS FTF!
Good luck, enjoy the trail, and remember it is good to give back!
