Geocache Description:


The name means badger dog and the Dachshund used to hunt badgers, its short legs designed for digging. Its long body has given it the name 'Sausage Dog.' The breed was created in Germany 6 centuries ago, by mixing French Pointer with Terrier dogs.

The Dachshund is a brave, clever, independent and stubborn dog.

Famous Dachshund owners include Andy Warhol, Pablo Picasso.

FUN FACTS:
A Dachshund named Waldi was the first official mascot of Olympic games held in Munich in 1972.

The Dachshund was the first dog that was cloned in Britain.

The breed is Britain's 17th most popular.
