Boxers are directly related to the Bullenbeisser (bull biter), an extinct dog breed that was used to hunt wild boar and stag. They originated in Germany around the 18th Century. They have a tendency to stand on hind legs and box with their front paws. Their personality can be described as playful, energetic, goofy and devoted.
The Boxer was one of 7 breeds chosen to aid German soldiers in WWI.
Famous Boxer owners include Cameron Diaz, Justin Timberlake, Hugh Jackman, Cesar Millan.
FUN FACT:
Due to their short muzzles, Boxers are known to snore.
One Boxer holds the record for having the longest tongue in the world, at 17 inches long!
The Boxer is Britain's 18th most popular dog.
