Eyemouth windmill doesn't appear to feature on any tourist trail around Eyemouth, but it's an interesting old site and I thought it warranted a geocache.
I was hoping to place the cache a bit closer to the windmill, but there is already a geocache nearby, and proximity rules meant this was the closest I could place it.
The windmill dates from the late 18th Century, with later alterations. It's a former tower pumping mill, the remains of which stand 6.4m high, with a base diameter of 8.8m. The windmill now stands empty and roofless and is a Category C Listed Building.
The cache can be visited as a cache and dash (along the road to Eyemouth Golf Club) or there are a range of footpaths that lead to GZ allowing for a more pleasant exploratory amble around the area. There is also a roadside trig point a little further north from the windmill for any YOSM fans.
At the time of placing, there was heavy cloud (and rain!) which may have affected the accuracy of the coordinates. It would also appear that GZ may get quite nettley in the summer months. For these reasons, I have provided a generous hint.
