Questa casa degli uccelli, anche chiamata "torre colombaia" è la prima struttura sperimentale di Milano al parco della Resistenza:
Parte un sistema innovativo per controllare le colonie milanesi e la loro riproduzione. La torre è stata brevettata da esperti ornitologi assieme a un gruppo di architetti, ha lo scopo di creare un centro di nidificazione controllato, per limitare le nascite e tenere sotto controllo la salute degli uccelli. La "Torre Livia", così è stata chiamata, è stata messa a disposizione, a titolo gratuito, dalla Sanitaria Servizi Ambientali, società che da vent’anni si occupa di interventi a salvaguardia dell’ambiente, e che sarà gestita dal Gruppo Ornitologico Lombardo.
Le uova finte: La torre colombaia permette di monitorare lo stato di salute dei piccioni e di intervenire in maniera mirata con atti terapeutici di disinfezione e di disinfestazione. Inoltre si potrà controllare lo sviluppo numerico dello stormo, con un metodo che "inganna" gli uccelli: periodicamente le uova saranno sostituite con uova finte, di plastica, in modo tale che la coda si prolungherà e si rallenteranno i voli nuziali. Come si vede non si punta a eliminare i piccioni, ma solo a limitarne il numero e a salvaguardare la salute degli uccelli stessi e dei milanesi, nonché a risparmiare nelle spese di protezione di monumenti e palazzi storici.
Esperienze all'estero: La città di Basilea, che ha adottato le torri colombaie nel 1988, ha ottenuto in un anno la riduzione del 50% del numero di piccioni, di 1.650 chili di guano e la produzione di 2.500 uova in meno. L’esempio svizzero è stato seguito nel 2003 anche da Parigi, Londra, Sydney e Notthingam.

This bird house, also called "dovecote tower" is the first experimental structure in Milan at the Parco della Resistenza:
An innovative system to control the Milanese colonies and their reproduction starts. The tower has been patented by expert ornithologists together with a group of architects, with the aim of creating a controlled nesting center, to limit births and keep the health of birds under control. The "Torre Livia", as it was called, was made available free of charge by the Sanitaria Servizi Ambientali, a company that has been dealing with environmental protection activities for twenty years, and which will be managed by the Ornithological Group Lombard.
Fake eggs: The dovecote tower allows to monitor the pigeons' health status and to intervene in a targeted manner with therapeutic disinfection and disinfestation actions. Furthermore, the numerical development of the flock can be controlled by a method that "cheats" the birds: periodically the eggs will be replaced with fake plastic eggs, in such a way that the tail will be prolonged and the wedding flights will slow down. As we can see, we are not aiming to eliminate pigeons, but only to limit the number and to safeguard the health of the birds themselves and of the Milanese, as well as to save the costs of protecting monuments and historic buildings.
Experiences abroad: The city of Basel, which adopted the dovecot towers in 1988, achieved a 50% reduction in the number of pigeons, 1,650 kilos of guano and the production of 2,500 less eggs in a year. The Swiss example was followed in 2003 by Paris, London, Sydney and Notthingam.
