My husband, Nimrod, & I were driving around out here (scoping out places to maybe put a cache) when we encountered a whole rafter of wild turkeys here! (Fact of the Day: "Rafter" is the name for a group of wild turkeys.) We sat in the car watching them for a while, but then decided to get out to take full advantage of everything the site offered. After a bite of lunch, I placed this cache to commemorate a nice day in the country.
This is a very good place for the geo-dog to get out and run, as there is almost no cactus and you can keep your dog in sight while here. I placed this cache rather far from the road just to allow the pups some opportunity to frolic.
Another wild turkey fact: Their heads can change color, very quickly, due to excitement or emotion (turkeys get emotional?). They can turn red/pink, white, or blue!
