State Fact: The town of Atlanta, IL, has a 19-foot fiberglass Paul Bunyan holding, not an axe, but a seven-foot hot dog in a bun. Before his restaurant days, he held a muffler. It is one of many Paul Bunyans that used to populate Route 66 usually repurposed into different characters and uses. Wilmington has the Gemini Giant, a Paul Bunyan holding a rocket and wearing a robot space helmet. In Springfield, the muffler was removed and replaced with an American flag. In Libertyville, Paul, another muffler man, got his axe back.
