This geocache is placed on the Whakanui Track on a section of track where it levels out after a steady and steep uphill climb. A chance to catch your breath or relax and take in the grandeur of the native bush. The cache is placed beside a huge specimen of a black beech adjacent to the track. Has to be one of the largest black beech trees I have ever seen. Also in the area nearby are some rather large rimu, kamahi, hinau and hard beech.
