Geocache Description:

Katzir is a settlement on Mount Amir in the northern Samaria Mountains. Over Wadi Ara.

Katzir was established in May 1982 on Jewish Agency land, as a community settlement whose residents are incorporated in a cooperative society. The settlement was part of the Iron Plan to establish Jewish settlements on both sides of the Green Line between the Iron Valley and Jenin, and constituted the southernmost settlement of the Mitzpeim program in the Galilee. The settlement was established by the Farmers' Union in the area known as the Western Hill. The settlement included caravan-style homes, which still exist in the Artists' Colony in the eastern part of the settlement. Its residents were mainly academics who worked outside the locality and sought to live in a rural area The reserve in Katzir is an open green part of the settlement. It contained several ancient buildings. The reserve is between Amirim Street and Goren Street (entrances from both streets). Inside the reserve is a narrow, clear path.
